“Learning is a lifelong process! Never stop, be always hungry for more knowledge.”
This statement came from one of our instructors, Bille Janssen Lagarde. He is an EdTech coach at CIIT and he teaches Game Development and Game Programming.
Bille has been with CIIT for three years now. He used to work as a game programmer and a web developer before pursuing teaching. Outside of work, he streams games and is a computer geek!
How did you become part of CIIT?
I was looking for another job to juggle back in 2015 when I saw this post on Facebook that a school in Timog (previous CIIT location) is looking for a game development lecturer. I didn’t hesitate, and after the interview and demo day, I received a call that told me to start right away.
What are the highlights of your career?
I consider one of the highlights of my career is when I started teaching at CIIT and it is fulfilling to see students accomplishing their goals and appreciating my efforts in educating them.
What are the subjects or programs you teach? Why did you choose to teach those subjects?
them because that is where my mastery is and I am confident that I can share my expertise to my students effectively.
What do you love most about teaching in CIIT?
The culture of support and empowerment! If you ask your colleagues, you’ll be getting one no matter what. My efforts are being acknowledged and rewarded, giving me more fuel to move forward.
What are the three things your students don’t know about you?
I’m not quite sure how this will be interesting, but here goes.
- I’m a Competition Delegate for the Philippines by the World Cube Association. Basically, I am one of the people who is approving Rubik’s cube competitions here for them to be officially recognized.
- I am very interested in Astrophysics. I think I have watched a lot of videos and read a lot of journals about the creation of the universe, the mystery of black holes, and a lot more.
- I’m into custom mechanical keyboards. They’re expensive, but they feel and sound good!
What would you like your students to learn from you or the lessons you would like them to learn even after they graduate?
One thing that my students should know is that success is a combination of luck plus hard work. When an opportunity comes, grab in and work for it.
What motivates you as an instructor?
There is always an opportunity to change someone’s life in a positive way.
