Bianca Isabelle Alexis Nogoy is a student artist and a small business entrepreneur who took advantage of her artistry and creativity by selling handmade playmats and also, baby products. On top of her business stint, Bianca is a hardworking student and scholar. She is currently in her 2nd year of taking Bachelor of Fine Arts at CIIT College of Arts and Technology.
Why did you choose to study your current program?
A couple of months before I graduated from Junior High School, I had no idea on what I really wanted to take in college. I always had, and probably still have, the mindset of “going with the flow”.I will just be wherever life takes me. As I was finding a new school to enter for Senior High School, I stumbled upon CIIT and at that same moment I was into photography. Thus, I decided to enter the school as soon as I passed the exam. My decision to pursue an education in the Arts was also influenced by my family’s background in it.
How and where did your passion for Photography started?
Ever since I was young, I was always fond of taking pictures and having D.I.Y photoshoots at home. Although, before I entered junior high school, I never really thought of it as a passion or even a hobby. It was not something I took notice of, at that time. In Junior High School, we had to enlist in clubs, and due to my lack of interest in any of the clubs, I just joined Photo and Digital Arts club as it was the only one that had slots. From that club, my interest in photography began. From there on, every time my family and I would travel or something important is happening, I wanted to take a picture.
How did you become a CIIT scholar?
I became a CIIT scholar as it was granted to me when I graduated 2nd Honors in CIIT SHS. Maintaining the scholarship is an everyday challenge! When I was not a scholar yet, I always pressured (in a good and healthy way) myself in achieving high grades, but now that I am a scholar, a lot more is at stake. I must aim higher each time. As a student, I would still feel lazy or uninspired, but I push myself for my scholarship. Although, I don’t view the constant pressure as a negative thing in myself, rather it is something that makes me feel productive or functional.
What is the most remarkable experience so far in the school?
The most remarkable experience, so far, is finding my voice and advocacy in the things that we are tasked to do. I used to think that the art I made revolves purely with “myself” only, but then I found purpose in my craft and what I wanted to do with it.
What do you like the most in CIIT?
The most notable thing that I like about CIIT is the ambiance and environment. I never really enjoyed a traditional set-up in taking classes where the learning method is more restricted. CIIT made studying fun and knowledgeable at the same time. The culture in CIIT is quite different from the typical school. I was used to school policies that were strict, but in CIIT, it was a whole new culture. There are still rules, but it does not limit the students when it comes to expressing themselves. The same with the classes and instructors, we revolved in an environment that paced in a “chill” manner. It’s easy to approach and get along with everyone. Which probably makes the whole learning experience better and manageable.
How is the CIIT scholarship helping you achieve your dream career?
Being a CIIT scholar, there is a constant (good) pressure that comes along with it. I always have to make sure that I am performing well in my subjects. With that being said, it also keeps me motivated in exploring my dream career. I take the opportunity of learning as a practice on what I would be doing in the future. As much as I can, I incorporate my visions in life into every output I make.
