Your student life continues. However, among the most common dilemmas high schoolers face is choosing the right school and program for them.

Your student life continues as you step into college. However, among the most common dilemmas high schoolers face is choosing the right school and program for them. We know. We’ve been there. That’s why CIIT will help you decide how to select the right school and best college courses in the Philippines that could be considered a significant turning point in your future.

How to Choose the Right School

choosing the right school and program

The Philippines has over 2,300 colleges and universities, so selecting the right school can be overwhelming. So, before you send in your college application, here are some things to consider.

Your Budget

Whether you opt for a public or private college/university, you’ll need funds to support your educational needs. Annual tuition fees in the Philippines typically range between P60,000 to P140,000. If you want to pursue an IT-related course, CIIT offers lower rates.

School’s Location

Most municipalities have elementary and secondary schools but not colleges or universities. When deciding, consider things like proximity, boarding, transportation expenses, and whether you want to spend your student days in the Metro or province.

Available Course Programs

Does the school you like have the course you want? Not all colleges and universities offer all courses. Here at CIIT, we have CIIT programs focused on art and technology-related courses designed to help prepare you for your entrepreneurial ventures.

How to Choose the Best College Program

choosing the right school and program

Selecting the best college program is harder than picking the right school. But don’t fret. Here are some tips on choosing the right school and program in college for you:

Pick a Course that Aligns with Your Interests and Skills

Most high schoolers go for courses they think will pay well. Nothing wrong with it. But if your course doesn’t fit your interests and skills, you won’t enjoy your future career in the long run. Some go back to college because they didn’t choose the right course. So, pick something that interests you and matches your skills so you’ll have a wonderful student life and a bright future.

Consider the Job Market and Demand

If you aim to secure a job right after graduation, opt for a relevant course that aligns with the most in-demand jobs in the Philippines. According to Digido PH, there’s a huge demand for BPO, IT, and home-based workers today.

Assess Your Long-Term Career Goals

When choosing the best course in the Philippines, ask yourself: Does this course align with my long-term objectives? Will this course lead to good pay? Can this course provide opportunities to transition between salaried employment and entrepreneurship and vice versa?

Explore CIIT Program Options

Meet our CIITeen, Audric Andrada! https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciiteen-audric-andrada/ Tue, 27 Feb 2024 00:20:54 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=48266 It’s tough these days to get parents on board with supporting an art career, especially when they see it as not measuring up to jobs in medicine or tech. This is why our CIITeen Audric Verne Andrada is thankful parents’ supported his love for the arts.

He dreams of joining a major game studio as an illustrator or concept artist, and perhaps even crafting his own stories for others to enjoy someday.

Audric’s creation

Besides his passion for drawing and designing, he is also a big fan of K-pop, musicals, and anything music-related. When he’s not in school, you’ll likely find him binge-watching YouTube videos, playing the piano, or gaming with his pals. As for movies, “Interstellar” tops his list; he’s captivated by how it perfectly marries deep character development with its sci-fi backdrop.

Audric’s passion for the arts began back in 6th grade. Inspired by his friends’ artistic skills, he was motivated to improve and match their level. He hasn’t stopped drawing since then!

His art journey is also influenced by several artists he finds on X (formerly known as Twitter), notably one known as Sevvanto. He’s drawn to the warm feel of their art style and aims to capture something similar in his work. Additionally, he admires the artists behind the splash illustrations in League of Legends. Their exceptional skill level is something he aspires to, and he eagerly anticipates each new piece of artwork that’s released with the game’s new content.

The first time Audric heard about CIIT Senior High School was through a friend. Since his entire group of friends is made up of artists, they were all intrigued by the idea and even joked about embarking Senior High together someday. However, what attracted him to CIIT was the strong sense of community and its unique educational approach, especially with curricula that equally emphasize both tech and arts.

Audric hanging out with his friends and classmates

Currently, he is taking up Media and Visual Arts at CIIT Senior High School. For Audric, the school is a unique blend of freedom and challenge. He finds that even though there are fewer written exams and generally less traditional homework than at other schools, there’s a constant flow of project-based assignments tied to his chosen strand that need to be completed quickly. Plus the teachers are so approachable and passionate so it’s easy to ask questions whenever they pop up.

Audric with his friends

Audric sees Media and Visual Arts as a career path that is often overlooked and underestimated, despite its huge impact on our daily lives. He firmly believes that it plays a crucial role in our world: “The clothes we wear were dreamed up by fashion designers, the signs and posters on the streets were crafted by graphic designers, the illustrations in books and the words we read are the work of artists and writers. MVA brings a special kind of beauty and uniqueness to communication that you don’t see in other fields.”

Some might think art is just about sketching and creating designs, but Audric knows it’s about putting in real effort to make it in this field. For those keen on following this path, he recommends always turning in work promptly. Staying in touch with your teachers about deadlines and questions can save you a ton of trouble down the line. And don’t skip on joining a club; it might seem like extra work, but it’s a great way to meet cool people and have fun in ways you wouldn’t expect!

Go for your dream job in the arts, design, animation, computer science, or entrepreneurship! Unleash your potential, and let CIIT guide you towards your future. Interested in our Senior High School programs? Click here for more info!

Artistic Siblings: The Bermejo Journey from CIIT to Creative Excellence. Meet our CIIT Graduates, Mario and Jane https://www.ciit.edu.ph/the-artistic-sibling-duo-mario-and-jane-bermejo/ Wed, 21 Feb 2024 05:40:45 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=48224 Meet Jane Maro and Mario Bermejo, a sibling duo who followed their passions on arts. Jane, also known as Chao, the youngest among the siblings, delved into Fine Arts, concentrating on Visual Communication, while Mario, the older sibling, specialized in Multimedia Arts with a focus on Graphic Design. Both are alumni of CIIT, where their studies have set the stage for fruitful careers in their respective fields.

Chao has become a multimedia artist at 7th Media and has conducted three portraiture workshops at CIIT. Mario, on his part, has carved out his niche as a multimedia artist at Taktyl Studios.

Tracing the Bermejo Siblings’ Artistic Journey

Their love of painting and drawing began in childhood, with happy memories of watching cartoons and animations such as “A Bug’s Life” and “Toy Story.” Chao shared how she was influenced by her siblings, quietly watching and mimicking them, which eventually grew into a personal love for art. As she matured, her interest shifted towards portraiture and the study of human anatomy. Mario, meanwhile, reminisced about his fascination with old 3D magazines, which he preferred to outdoor play. For Mario and Chao, being exposed to various forms of art from a young age was key, and it was only a matter of time before they realized this was their calling.

As they grew and delved deeper into the art world, they each found their artistic niches. Both Chao and Mario have a longstanding affection for traditional art, particularly enjoying working with wet mediums. Though they have been doing more digital art lately due to the nature of their work, they miss the hands-on experience and the feel of creating something with traditional methods.

The sibling bond between them is also a source of inspiration. Chao admires her brother’s knack for conceptualization and his understanding of color theory. While Mario is impressed by his sister’s technical skills, such as her attention to detail and mastery of form. Beyond each other, they find inspiration in other artists too. Chao is comforted and inspired by the works of Instagram artists like Jovic and Andrew; as both are portrait artists. For Mario, Alphonse Mucha’s unique blend of geometry and softness in his art was a pivotal influence during his childhood.

Of course, both of them have special pieces that they want to share with everyone! Mario created a piece titled “Blank Canvas.” This one stands out as he views it as his annual tribute to traditional art forms. In it, he delves into the intriguing concept that we are, in some ways, canvases for ourselves, creating our narratives intentionally or unconsciously.

Meanwhile, Chao has a self-portrait she made around 2018 or 2019. This piece is dear to her among all her creations, as it reflects her artistic evolution. Unlike her simpler self-portraits in pencil or charcoal, this work showcases her improved skills in intricate detailing and blending colors—something she takes great pride in sharing with everyone

Discovering CIIT

Choosing a college major often involves weighing our parents’ opinions, and sometimes they might not see eye to eye with our choices. But for the Bermejo siblings, this wasn’t an issue. Coming from a family with a strong passion for art and music, where their other three siblings also pursued creative fields like interior and fashion design, they felt at ease sharing their aspirations. For Mario, it was about communicating that their chosen paths were truly what they wanted. Once they did, they received complete support from their parents.

Mario revealed that their parents were the ones who selected CIIT for their college education. Initially, the decision was based on factors like location and affordability. However, once they visited the campus, they felt it was a welcoming environment that encouraged creative exploration.

As graduates, Mario and Jane are grateful for the valuable lessons they gained at CIIT. The college not only taught them essential skills, such as using software like Photoshop and Illustrator but also equipped them with the confidence and readiness to tackle challenges in their professional careers.

For Mario, in particular, CIIT played a significant role in building his confidence by providing him with the right tools and knowledge.

For students aiming to break into the tech or arts industry, the Bermejo siblings share their insights. Mario emphasizes the importance of seizing opportunities and utilizing available resources to follow your passion. He highlights the unique experience of working in a field you’re passionate about, rather than treating it merely as a hobby. The challenges are real, but it’s his deep affection for the medium that fuels his drive for excellence and effectiveness in his professional life. Chao advises grabbing opportunities when they arise. If opportunities aren’t immediately available, she suggests making the most of your current situation by learning and growing in it. With time and effort, she believes you will eventually reach where you want to be.

In a family where creativity wasn’t just encouraged but was the essence of everyday life, Chao and Mario didn’t just play with papers and pencils; they were crafting their future one stroke at a time.

Meet our CIITzen, Kyle! https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciitzen-kyle/ Wed, 29 Nov 2023 01:14:49 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=45730 Fascinated by the intricacies of game design, Kyle found his ideal outlet at CIIT College of Arts and Technology, where he studies Entertainment and Multimedia Computing.

Who could have imagined that a simple love for playing video games would lead to pursuing a degree in game development and making an impact on society? Take Kyle Abelgas as an example. As a gamer and tech enthusiast, Kyle takes pride in solving problems within applications or games. For students like him, the ability to tackle bugs and troubleshoot effectively stands out as a key motivator to pursue this field despite the challenges.

Interestingly, his passion for gaming has been noticeable since his childhood. He remembered how fun and freeing Grand Theft Auto was for him because he could explore and do things without worrying about real-life consequences.

However, he didn’t really become interested in game programming until his junior high teacher taught him how to use Visual Basic to make a calculator. Pleased with his progress, he then applied this newfound knowledge to game development. Although it was challenging at first, he persisted and eventually made his first simple game.

Fascinated by the intricacies of game design, Kyle found his ideal outlet at CIIT College of Arts and Technology, where he studies Game Development. Even though much of his student life has been during the pandemic, Kyle appreciates the institution’s nurturing atmosphere, which helped him hone his abilities.

For him, the benefit of having easy access to the computer lab is very important for his academic success and creative growth. As a budding game developer, he is grateful for the wealth of resources available to him. Given that each task in this area requires the use of specific software, this exposure has not only built his experience but also fueled his determination to strive for excellence.

As Kyle delves deeper into the world of programming, his curiosity about the inner workings of the Philippine game industry continues to grow. His inquisitive nature led him and his team to choose an unconventional but socially impactful topic for their Capstone project—the minimum wage in the Philippines. Their extensive research into this issue opened their eyes to the financial hardships faced by many Filipinos. Because of what they learned, they made a game that models the idea of minimum wage, Below the Line. They hoped that by doing this, players get to have a better sense of the problems lower-paid workers face.

But, of course, there’s more to that. Through direct engagement with the industry, Kyle learned that outsourcing is a major revenue stream for Filipino game development companies. He also found it interesting that some international games are actually outsourced to companies in the Philippines. This only shows that the local game development scene has a lot more to offer than people think.

“Kaka-computer mo ‘yan! (You’re always on that computer!)” is a common remark we hear from other people when we spend a lot of time on screens. Yet, Kyle Abelgas saw these comments not as criticism but as an opportunity to show that there’s a future in his chosen field. Of course, his commitment to his craft would not have been possible without the unwavering support of his parents from the very beginning. Thanks to their steadfast encouragement, he was able to chase his dreams while finding joy in the process.

And for students aspiring to follow in Kyle’s footsteps, here’s what he has to say: “Do it because you like to develop, program, or design games, not because you just like playing games. They are fundamentally different and require a tremendous amount of problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.”

Just like Kyle, you can also transform your passion into a career! At CIIT, we offer support not just to help you achieve your goals but also to connect you with a community that shares your vision. Join our expanding community—for more information, click here.

Meet our CIITeen, Ziyi! https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciiteen-ziyi/ Wed, 04 Oct 2023 02:06:18 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=44705 Ziyi Alvarez, a SHS Animation strand student, has always been keen on creating her own animations. She first started small like a moving pendulum, an arm throwing a ball, and a steaming mug.

She knows it’s not an easy path as it takes a lot of practice, but she knows she can achieve it by believing in herself and learning more from CIIT Senior High School.

How did your interest or passion in Animation start?

I was very invested in the concept of art, films, and games. One movie that I really enjoyed is the live-action movie of Beauty and the Beast. This is also the reason why I took an interest in 3D animation and storyboarding.

Besides movies, I also like to watch my favorite YouTubers such as Emirichu and Daidus. Emirichu’s channel is full of her drawings, while Daidus’ channel is dedicated to fast-paced animations. I like watching their channels as they inspire me to develop more of my skills when it comes to drawing and creating animations.

What’s your favorite thing about the program you are studying in CIIT?

What I like about being a CIITeen is that I get to train and improve my skills in different Animation Softwares. One advantage that I saw when I enrolled here is that most of our instructors are already professionals in the field. That’s why we are better guided and aligned with the industry we want to work in.

What’s your opinion when it comes to Philippine Animation?

I observed that Philippine Animation has grown larger today compared to before. We already have a lot of animated films and shows that everyone can watch and enjoy.

For you, why is Animation important in our society?

Animation is considered an art nowadays as it can also be a form of self-expression. It helps to make stories come alive and helps the audience know what the artist is trying to say. It’s also a form of entertainment wherein different genres can be more appreciated by the viewers. Lastly, it can be a learning tool as it can simplify complex ideas and make them easier to understand. A lot of learning platforms are using animations to help the students fully understand the topics.

Can you share with us an animation you created and share with us something about it?

I made this artwork to practice my rendering, coloring, and Live 2D rigging skills because I was still beginning to learn digital art and animation. I was inspired by some fanarts of Fulgur (the subject in the animation). I saw it on Twitter and decided to create a drawing of him as a Samurai. The initial plan was to only draw an illustration, but when I was in the sketching process, I decided to make it an animation instead.

During the process, I had to separate some parts of Fulgur into different layers, like the arm, body, clothes, parts of the hair, sword, and head, and then render them separately. Since I was still starting out then, it took me 8 hours just to have it fully rendered. After that, I uploaded the file to Live2d and started rigging it. I added breathing movement, hair swaying, and some arm movements to make it look not too stiff. It did not take long, maybe a bit over 5 minutes.

Once I was finished, I uploaded it to my Twitter account which garnered over 1500 likes (if I remember correctly). It easily became a memorable artwork for me since Fulgur also saw it, liked it, and retweeted it, and that made me super happy! I felt like all the time I’ve used to create this artwork was completely worth it.

What are you looking forward to in your future career?

I look forward to further enhancing my knowledge and skills when it comes to my desired career and also to seeing more growth in the animation industry in the Philippines.

What is your dream?

I want to be a Game Animator. I want to push myself to be the best that I can be when it comes to creating animations in our gaming industry.

What is your advice to students who also want to take Animation as their strand?

There’s no such thing as a perfect first sketch, so focus more on making it look right than making it look good.

Do you want to go to a school that’ll help you in pursuing your dream career? Then join us at CIIT Senior High School.

Meet our CIITzen, Christian! https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciitzen-scholar-christia/ https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciitzen-scholar-christia/#respond Mon, 14 Aug 2023 07:36:42 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=42835 Fourth Year Bachelor in Multimedia Arts (BMMA) student, Christian Oliver Espinueva, spends every free moment with a camera in hand, filming the stories around him. Thankfully, he gets lots of chances to flex his filmmaking skills at CIIT!

Even better, each new film enables Christian to stretch his filmmaking skills beyond his limits and keep his creativity burning. In our interview with him below, check out how CIIT has encouraged Christian to explore his passion, how his constant practice has opened doors for him in the industry, and why he encourages budding filmmakers to nurture their creative drive:

How did your interest in filmmaking begin?

I started by borrowing my mother’s phone to take photos and videos. Together with my friends and family, we produced films just for fun, without any purpose or plan. As time went by, my interest in video and filmmaking grew and a turning point happened during senior high school. Here, I was able to write and direct my first ever short film entitled “Opyo.”

We found out about CIIT when my mother saw an advertisement online for Multimedia Arts Course. At CIIT, I’ve been able to produce more films. During my 2nd year in college, my groupmates, blockmates, and friends would even shoot films and music videos together. But when the pandemic and lockdowns hit, we had to stop shooting videos as a group for a while. I didn’t stop making films, though. I kept producing short videos and skits at home.

How do you think CIIT has helped you hone your skills?

CIIT gives us many opportunities to test out our skills, even the homework enable us to work on improving our craft.

For instance, my best film so far is a short film entitled “Conjunct” that my classmate, Camille Velasco, and I made for an assignment. We were the only people in the production and since it was a horror film, there was even a time we were filming at night in the middle of a forest. While this was my most challenging film so far, it is the one I am the most proud of because I was very happy with the cinematography, lighting, sound design, and of course, the overall storyline tying together the film. Even my professor, Mr. Josh Lomahan, really appreciated our final output.

Do you think you’re on the way to a career in filmmaking?

Yes. I really want to become a Director and Cinematographer in the next five to ten years and I’m working towards that goal.

I have extensive knowledge in cinematography, lighting and directing. Before, I would even share my knowledge on filmmaking and techs on YouTube. Currently, I am also a freelancer for video editing and other multimedia works as well as a project-based employee in M&P Creatives.

Why do you think filmmaking is a viable career path?

Multimedia has so many applications in today’s digital world, particularly in the advertisement, entertainment and publication industries. With CIIT’s Multimedia Arts program, we’re not only armed with the skills to flourish in these fields, we also become artists who can make the online platform a better place.

What advice would you give to your aspiring filmmakers?

Just keep your creativity burning. We’re artists and art is subjective, so no one can ever question what we want to create.

Like Christian, do you have an unstoppable passion for the arts that you’d love to turn into a career? If so, CIIT is the place to be!

Meet our CIITzen Scholar, PJ! https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciiteen-pj/ https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciiteen-pj/#respond Mon, 07 Aug 2023 03:39:39 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=42807 When CIIT scholar, PJ Pelicano, began his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) degree, he was on a mission. He was out to prove to his family that computers were not just fun and games, but the key to his future.

At CIIT, PJ discovered that this field could benefit society in so many ways. Find out how CIIT’s scholarship program and project-based assignments widened his view of technology and the opportunities it offers him to help others.

How did your interest in computers start?

It’s difficult kapag medyo strict and overprotective yung parents as a kid kasi you don’t get to explore the outside world that much. Yung computer, yung virtual world and games, parang naging safe space ko siya to explore and move freely, as well as connect with friends kapag hindi pwedeng lumabas.

Why did you enroll in CIIT’s computer science program?

Like I said before, computers allowed me to explore. Kaya lang, I always hear “puro ka computer, wala namang magandang madudulot yan”. I pursued computer science kasi naiinis ako na hindi nila ma-appreciate yung utility ng computer, how it helps me at work, and also emotionally. Sa nakikita ko naman ngayon din, technology has revolutionized everything. When we fully understand the language of technology, we can make better tools and innovations for everyone.

Karamihan din sa mga courses na nakikita ko regarding Computer Science is basically just Computer Science, period. Pero iba yung Computer Science sa CIIT. May specialization sa Game Development and Mobile Apps, so it gives you the best of both worlds. Mas marami akong skills na natutunan, which opened multiple doors, opportunities, and choices.

Can you share with us some of your best works?

At CIIT, most of the outputs are project-based. This enables all our works to be personal. We are able to fully express ourselves through our works. I’ll always be proud of my first ever game, Kamuning Munings. Even though it’s simple, I think it’s good for a first try. You can learn more about it or even play it here: https://patrickdotjade.myportfolio.com/games

I am also very proud of the team project I created with Eder Chua named LeavenPOS. I believe this is one of my best works. It’s a system specifically designed for Eder’s family’s business. The project requirement was to incorporate our lesson about CRUD or yung basic functions ng isang system which are Create, Read, Update, and Delete to a desktop application.

What makes it interesting is that the application is specialized. May kinokopya kaming existing system, but turning it into an automatic application. Dapat tama lahat. I not only learned how to develop a desktop application, I also learned how a business works, as well as yung challenge of automating an already existing system. Dapat mas efficient, dapat mas mabilis, dapat mas convenient para sa kanila.

What growth did you experience after enrolling in CIIT?

My reason for studying changed. Ang selfish ng reason ko on why I took computer science. May gusto lang akong patunayan. Pero CIIT helped me find better reasons within myself kung bakit ko gustong i-pursue further yung kinuha kong course. If games and applications helped me in a lot of ways, sasali ako sa pag-gawa nung mga tools na makakatulong naman sa iba.

Gusto kong bumuo ng games that speak and connect with people on another level. Gusto kong bumuo ng mga virtual worlds that can be an escape for people and help them, much like how games helped me.

Isa pa, I want to build tools, utilities, systems, and innovations that would allow people to be more efficient with their crafts and works para mas ma-express nila yung sarili nila fully. Para mas dumali yung buhay nating lahat, diba.

In fact, I’m looking forward na hindi umikot sa sarili ko yung future career ko. I want to be involved with other people from different parts of the Philippines. Yung mae-experience ko yung issues and difficulties nila first-hand, para mas maintindihan ko and hopefully makapag-develop ng tools or systems para maging solution sa problema nila.

How did CIIT’s scholarship program help you?

First of all, I am grateful to CIIT for granting me a scholarship. Sobrang helpful niya kasi I don’t have to think much kung paano tutulungan yung family ko regarding my tuition. It also motivated me na mag excel sa mga subjects ko. That small pressure of being a scholar pushed me to learn and explore more things in advance para maging mas efficient sa mga subjects ko.

Do you want to create change and make tools that can solve real world problems? Then you’ve come to the right school. CIIT will definitely arm you with the skills you’ll need as you grow and figure out your impactful career goals!

Meet our CIITeen, Krisha! https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciitzen-krisha/ https://www.ciit.edu.ph/meet-our-ciitzen-krisha/#respond Wed, 19 Jul 2023 00:52:44 +0000 https://www.ciit.edu.ph/?p=42685 Stuck at home during lockdowns, CIITeen alumna, Krisha, beat boredom by reviving her hobby of editing and remixing existing music videos on YouTube. Then, as she delved deeper into her craft, her viewership skyrocketed exponentially. Krisha realized she shouldn’t underestimate art’s value and that her passion could be her future profession.

But Krisha was determined to refine her talent even further, so she enrolled in CIIT’s Senior High School (SHS) Media and Visual Arts strand. In the interview below, she shares how CIIT’s SHS played a vital role in shaping her future, and why her peers should confidently pursue a career in the arts:

How did you become interested in editing and remixing?

Back in 2018, I watched short videos and I noticed that their music or editing style didn’t quite fit the videos’ storyline. So, I started to learn how to manipulate the music, like slowing it down, cutting it, or mixing it.

Along the way, I also picked up how to make cool transitions for my videos. These small edits inspired me to be a video editor and I experimented with editing software and apps to achieve different video effects, from cinematic to vlog to texts and many others.

How did you start earning from your hobby?

While I started uploading my edits on YouTube in 2018, I stopped for a while and only began editing again during the pandemic because there was nothing to do.

By Mid-2020, I noticed I was gaining viewers and subscribers at a rapid rate. I kid you not, I was slightly scared when the viewers grew to really large numbers. People from other countries were watching my channel and it was incredible that they enjoyed my work. I was happy that a lot of people cared, but at that point, I still hadn’t told my family about my channel. As time passed, my views kept soaring and it got to a point where I could sign up for an Adsense account and earn money from my considerable views. That’s when I told my mom and thankfully, she was happy and excited. She even encouraged me to pursue video editing as my career!

What do you envision as your future career?

I am looking forward to being a videographer, film editor, or producer, which are professions that will empower me to be independent and creative. Additionally, I will finally be able to make creative works on professional devices and materials, rather than just my mobile phone.

How do you think CIIT helped you work toward this career?

I found out about CIIT when I realized that I wanted to sharpen my creative skills and develop my own style. I researched and discovered that CIIT SHS had a strand for Media and Visual Arts.
My research on CIIT convinced me that I can learn many skills related to video editing or even other skills in the arts and multimedia fields in this school, so I immediately applied. Also, the look of the CIIT building assured me that this is a reliable art institution.

Why do you think a profession in the arts is viable?

I think in this modern’s society, media, technology, art, or anything related to it is so much more relevant now. We can see this because large companies really need traditional and digital designers and artists. We’re in very high demand these days.

Plus, everything is done online today, which means there are more opportunities for young, teenage artists to earn money online. With the help of CIIT’s track, teenagers can learn earlier, which makes it even easier to earn for themselves.

Do you have any advice for budding film editors?

My advice is: don’t tell this to your parents unless you’ve proven that you can earn money and have a stable career. Just kidding. But on a serious note, just be patient and determined. I think a lot of teenagers hold back on studying the arts because they are afraid others can’t accept that art is valid and that they can have a great future in this field.

My advice is do not undervalue this track. Just go for it!

Do you want to go to a school that can take your existing skills to the next level so you can secure a stable, rewarding future in the arts? Then join us in CIIT!

Check out our SHS strands here or enroll here.
