2002 – The BlackBerry smartphone marked a great triumph in the field as it unified the modern feature of wireless email.
2007 – The advent of iPhone and its own operating system, the iOS, signaled the onset of today’s famous apps that run by way of touchscreen.
2008 – Technology giant Apple launched its App Store, where iPhone users can go to take mobile apps.
2008-2010 – Google and Microsoft launched their own mobile OSs (Android OS and Windows Phone), which gained worldwide fame, too, after iOS did well in sales.
2009 – 250 million gadgets ran the Symbian mobile OS.
2010-2011 – App markets rose and grew fast to serve the high volume of downloadable programs.
2011 – Users have copied over 10 billion apps from Apple’s App Store, 10 times higher than the figures in April 2009.
2012 – Apple’s sole market has more than a whopping 600,000 smartphone apps.
2014 – The world has around 138 million app downloads and 19 billion software makers.
