Traditional Animation 

Also known as cell animation, traditional animation is a technique wherein you draw each frame by hand to create an animated scene. Traditional animators usually work on a light table that allows you to see the previous drawing through the top layer of paper.

Big companies such as Disney and Dreamworks are known to use this type of animation. Nowadays, you don’t necessarily need pen and paper to make traditional animation. You can create traditional animation projects on computers with special tablets. 2D Animation

Although you can edit frame by frame, vector-based animation allows you to create rigs for the characters and move single body parts simultaneously rather than constantly redrawing your characters. Shine in the Storm by Michael Ronquillo and Wetland by Jilene Baniqued are exceptional examples of 2D animation. 

3D Animation 

Also known as computer animation, 3D animation is the most popular type of animation today. 3D animation is the process of creating moving three-dimensional images in a digital context. These visuals are made using 3D software, allowing you to develop computerized objects that appear in 3D even though they’re on 2D software. 

3D animation relies less on traditional drawings and instead focuses on manipulating characters within a software environment to create movement. Thus, 3D animators heavily rely on physics to create realistic animations. These artworks by Sophia Marie Venzon and Tatyana Tamayo are superb examples of 3D animation.  

Motion Graphics 

You can level up your graphic designs by putting them in motion. This animation technique focuses on the ability to move elements, texts and shapes. Motion graphics are commonly used for projects like television promotions, explainer videos, and animated logos.

Sling and Stones

Sling and Stones is a fun video game created by CIITzens Ryan Cedullo, Vincent Rafael Alfaro, and Gabriel Andrei Ecleo. In addition, if you’re a fan of the game ‘Angry Birds,’ you’ll love channeling your frustrations in life through this dynamic title. Moreover, you have the option to play against a computer or friends across different maps with this game. 

Gravity Knight

What comes up must come down. Gravity Knight is a dynamic game that allows you to take control of where your player falls. Secondly, this exciting platformer game is designed with a retro art style that’ll make you fall in love. CIITzens Kyle Leo Abelgas and Mykel Valencia proudly did this project. 

Kawit

Another fantastic project proudly made by CIITzens is Kawit, a fun learning game that allows players to learn typing and the Filipino language. Developed by Maria Elizah Dominique Pascua, Nathaniel Ruiz, and Angelico Josef Vasquez, this project was awarded the best Capstone Project during CIIT’s 2022 graduation ceremony.

Mikela

Mikela is a digital artwork developed by CIITzen Katrina Bueno. Additionally, Mikela is the artist’s interpretation of a modern anime character, designed with comfortable yet functional clothing and battle scars to show she has a taste for adventure. 

Namiitae

There is beauty in the struggle, and the struggle can clearly be seen in this lachrymose work of art. This particular artwork by Julia Tobias shows a beautiful man enveloped in sadness. Furthermore, the character is dressed in black and is holding a single flower, showing how he’s mourning something or someone. 

Philippine Eagle

One CIIT student’s artwork placed importance on choosing the subject that piques your interest. For example, Princess Pomarejos made her own rendition of the Philippine Eagle, a national icon. Her artwork features the delicate Sampaguita flower, which is also a national symbol in the country. 

Flowers

Some artists draw inspiration from mother nature. A good example is Shandale Sy, who focused on different women holding various flowers. In addition, the ladies in her piece look to be from another period, with their feminine frocks, while the flowers were probably picked from the wild. 

Kingsman

There are students who enjoy drawing subjects from their favorite movies. Ammer Domingo chose the character Merlin from the movie franchise Kingsman. Additionally, the artist chose a grayscale palette in their interpretation of the character played by actor Mark Strong.

What to Expect in 2020: Important Trends in Graphic Design

3D Depth and Realism

3D became a major hit in the 2019 graphic design world. And as this craze stays until 2020, designers will mix and match it with other realities, such as photos and 2D objects. Further, more depth and detailed textures in 3D will also dominate designs in 2020.

Geometric Designs

Since more and more designers are opting for minimalist approaches in their works, the use of plain geometric shapes makes it to the top graphic design trends in 2020. Though it seems easy, creating geometric compositions require a lot of work to ensure they deliver the right message.

Simplified Illustrations

Lack of detail—this allows designers to focus on the message they need to convey more than the art itself. Even if this technique is anything but new, it will continue to thrive for the coming years. In fact, designs in 2020 will show oversimplified and sketchy illustrations.

Monochromes

In 2017, we saw the duotone craze used by designers. This evolved into a simpler version for 2019—monochromes. Art Plagiarism Defined

Merriam-Webster defines plagiarism as “the act of using another person’s words or ideas without giving credit to that person.”This takes on many forms, both online and offline. Art plagiarism is more than just copying artistic pieces.

Forms of Art Plagiarism

Plagiarists copy sketches, paintings, photos, and even sculptures. When you copy someone else’s art without consent or credit—you are stealing. Even mere using of filter, changing of color, and adding of clip art or text are part of this poor practice.
